Google Says SEO Is Not Spam

After stating often during conferences that SEO is not spam, the head of Google web spam Matt Cutts has put it out on video.

When we started 10 years ago in 2003 there were many web designers who advised their clients not to work with us because SEO was spam and ‘wouldn’t work’.

The problem seems to arise due to the ongoing debate between white hat and black hat SEO techniques. The uninformed seem to have difficulties differentiating between the two. Many jump on a forum and read some guy complaining that SEO doesn’t work (for him anyway) and by the time 10 more people have discussed it it turns to SEO is BAD!

Of course this couldn’t be further from the truth! There are simply good SEO techniques
